The Southern Womyn's Festival was not held in 2008.

LETTER FROM THE PRODUCER, PAT COBB

I regret that I could not dedicate the time, money and energy needed to produce this festival. I know that many of our attendees plan their vacations around SWF. This festival got a life of it's own the first few years. Due to problems with different landowners we lost the confidence of our attendees. I believe that I perhaps was too much in control of everything and not able to let others help me with this festival. The failure of SWF is totally on my shoulders there is no doubt of that. Some festival attendees told me that they would take over 2008 and I offered all the help I could, my email addresses etc. But this never happened. The festival is a big project and overwhelms your time for the entire year.
I love SWF and would like to see it survive. My Mother had a stroke and I had to spend this year caring for her while she was in the hospital and rehab. This was my deciding factor in not producing the festival. She is more important to me than anything in my life. I felt that I owed the attendees some reason why we did not continue SWF 2008. I do not know if there will be a 2009. I would love to see some womyn step up and help with making a festival for 2009. I know I cannot do it myself, my Mother still needs a lot of my time and attention.
Sincerely, Pat Cobb
